the world.
Our history as a transfer machine manufacturer began in 1958
with the model TD, a compact linear transfer machine produced until
1972 with over 200 units installed all over the industrialized world
(Korea and Japan included). Since the early 60's the company showed
a strong affinity to the international export, thanks to technological
solutions and to an excellent quality, reliability and productivity
(2000 parts/hour were a considerable value in the 60's).
In 1972 Buffoli was the first in Italy to introduce, on a rotary
transfer machine, the double wall frame, pressurized turrets and chucks,
Hirth crowns for the turret positioning and the oleodinamic command
(instead of pneumatic). The model 2D, presented at Milan Exposition
in 1972, attracted for its turret rotation time lower than one second,
achieved with a turret rotation system through sinusoidal acceleration-deceleration
by means of a connecting rod-crank mechanism driven by a hydraulic
control. This turret, whose rotation was made through a hydraulic-pneumatic
thrust, was much more reliable than the other solutions at that time.
Buffoli rotating turrets have demonstrated to be able to keep a cycle
time lower than one second also after 20 working years for 24 hour
per day.
In 1973 Buffoli was once again the first to introduce the vertical
axis suspended table transfer machines for the production of parts
in 3 or 4 directions (models 3D and 4D). In 1978 Buffoli manufactured
the first universal 4-Direction machine able to execute machining
in any direction inside 360° and able to work a variety of different
parts (Buffoli owns several patents for precision MULTI-WAY
machines working 4 directions in one clamping only, without chuck
indexing, and up to 6 directions with precision chuck indexing).
In 1981 Buffoli manufactured the first bar machine, today called
the TRANS-BAR
cnc flex. In the same year Buffoli installed in the USA the first
double bar version, for which Buffoli is today the world leader, whose
productivity is even four times a multi-spindle lathe and the change
over time is about 60-90 min (chip to chip).
In 1985 Buffoli introduced the first transfer machine with central
thrust ball screw unit controlled by CNC, properly designed for
heavy or particularly accurate machining. This patented unit,
exceptionally rigid, is very suitable for the use of high rotation
speed tools and, thanks to its particular compactness, for the installation
on translation and inclination slides.
In 1990 Buffoli designed and developed its own multi-processor
CNC, specifically designed for the control of parallel processes,
installed on the Buffoli machines since 1993.
Buffoli assure a design paying attention to all the different requirements
(accuracy, flexibility, efficiency, ergonomics, reliability), a careful
quality control of all components and a careful working running-in of the
main sub-assemblies.
